Ongoing Research & Development is the cornerstone
of our client-centric, solutions-oriented philosophy.

The process starts with listening to our clients, and working hand-in-
hand with their chefs to develop new items that meet varied product
challenges—and address their customers’ ever-evolving tastes.

It might mean reinventing an existing recipe, innovating with something
completely different, or creating an entire custom bread and pastry
program. Whatever the case, Crestone’s R&D experts evaluate ingredients,
price point, product format, production parameters, and potential usage
and storage condition at the customer’s end. Before any item is moved
from the drawing board to large-scale production, the viability of every
step must be assured. A new muffin, for example, that tastes great when
made in small quantities in the test kitchen must prove to be just as
satisfying when baked in a 400-pound batch on the production floor.

Because factors such as altitude & type of machinery can also significantly
affect the final outcome, the R&D team follows the commercialization
process of a new item through to the Crestone location where it will actually
be baked. Working closely with production teams at each facility, they help
ensure seamless product launches — because the development’s not done
until the item tastes as delicious as it was intended to.
